Just experimenting with smoke photography. It's almost like a snowflake as no one stream is like another. In this case the original photo was a single stream that was copied and 'mirrored' in post. I added colors on several layers and used a gradient on a layer mask in order to smooth out the colour transitions. The original photo was taken with a Nikon D80 fitted with a Nikkor 105 macro lens. I used a wireless flash trigger and the flash was located slightly below and behind the stream of smoke.
