The background lights are LED christmas lights. The streaking is due zooming the lens during the exposure. He was in darkness, and was exposed by the strobe to his left, with a white reflector filling in the right side.

Careless but lucky...

Could have been worse catagory: Car is running out of gas on Denman, I just manage to turn right on Barclay and get in front of a space. First bit of luck. Car dies. Ok I'll push it into the space. Get out to push, close the door, and it's locked... with the keys inside. The window is open just a crack and I manage to get my arm in far enough to unlock it.  Second bit of luck.  Then a good samaritan helps me push it into the empty space. Third bit of luck. Get a jerry can of gas and I'm back on the road, somewhat wetter and wiser about letting the needle on the gas gauge hit the red zone and not filling up right away. Not so smart, but lucky.
