There are some interesting buildings here in the lower mainland. This is one of them.

Actually these are plastic staws, but the way it was lit and the black and white conversion makes it look as though it's a series of silver tubes.

Foggy Forest
A small fog bank rolled into the park and I thought the light was so beautiful that I had to take a picture.

alex fraser bridge
Taken during the 'blue hour' just after sunset. I wish I had walked onto the west side deck as there was a spectacular sunset. The golden light spilled onto the Fraser river and it looked like a stream of molten gold.

towers
These are the towers that will eventually support the new roof on BC Place, a multipurpose stadium in downtown Vancouver. The red in the sky is due to the reflection of the city lights off the cloud cover. It was a fairly long exposure, 20 seconds but I wanted a smaller aperature in order to get all of the elements sharp.

A thought
It seems to me that the volume of condemnation of homosexuality and sexuality in general from assorted right-wing folk: preachers, pundits, politicians; take your pick, is proportional to the level of their own, hidden, fevered desires.

red
Just experimenting with smoke photography. It's almost like a snowflake as no one stream is like another. In this case the original photo was a single stream that was copied and 'mirrored' in post. I added colors on several layers and used a gradient on a layer mask in order to smooth out the colour transitions. The original photo was taken with a Nikon D80 fitted with a Nikkor 105 macro lens. I used a wireless flash trigger and the flash was located slightly below and behind the stream of smoke.
